About us
Junghans radio-controlled clocks and watches. Their technology makes them one of the world's most accurate.
Junghans radio controlled watches adjust automatically via radio signal to transmitted time from one of world's most accurate clocks, the cesium-based time of the Physical Technical Federal institute in Braunschweig, with a deviation of 1 second within one million years!
The secret of their accuracy?
A receiver system, mini board with microprocessor and a regulating and controlling device. The cesium time-base transmits a so called time telegram to the time signal transmitter DCF-77 in Mainflingen, near Frankfurt. The transmitter broadcasts the coded time-telegram over the long wave of 77.5 kHz. The receiver system of the radio-controlled watch receives the time signal, which is then decrypted by the microprocessor and passed on to a stepping motor to adjust the watch with absolute accuracy.
Continuous reception within more than 1,500km range around the transmitter DCF-77 is guaranteed. Outside the range of reception, the watch works like a standard quartz watch. In the event of reception interference, a functionality check can be performed by activating a transmitter call button, upon which the watch automaticalIy self-adjusts again.
Radio controlled watches are just a small part of the Junghans brand which ranges from quartz watches, to mechanical and automatic, through to wall clocks, alarm clocks and also the Max Bill designer range of watches and clocks.
All Junghans products are made to the highest standard, with the use of cutting edge materials such as titanium and ceramic.
